All
countries are curious about the effects of the stars and planets.
The
Vedas have three daughters: Yoga-Mind, Ayurveda-body and
Jyotisha-Spirit.
Jyotisha is the Science of Light. Light is spirit. It involves the tracking and predicting the movements of astronomical bodies.
Jyotisha is one of the six Vendagas:
Shiksha
This is the Science of phonetics, phonology, and It is a discipline
focused on the letters of the Sanskrit alphabet. Of the utmost
importance is accent, quantity, stress, melody and rules of the
euphonious combination of words during Vedic recitation.
Chandas
Poetic meters, including those based on fixed number of syllables per
verse, and those based on fixed number of morae or fixed weight of
syllable, per verse.
Vyakarana The analysis of grammar
and linguistic analysis having to do with the rules of grammar in order
to establish the exact form of words and sentences to properly express
ideas.
Nirukta The etymology and explanation of words, particularly those that are archaic and have ancient uses with unclear meaning.
Kalpa
These are ritual instructions of standardizing procedures for Vedic
rituals and rites of passage associated with major life events such as
birth, wedding and death in family, as well as discussing the personal
conduct and proper duties of an individual in different stages of life.
Jyotisha
The mathematical determining of auspicious time for rituals, and the
practice of Astrology and astronomy particularly having to do with time
keeping.
A longtime friend who has no boundaries on his heart when it comes to sharing, sent a letter this morning to his followers telling of a nail-biting, floor-pacing, fear building ordeal he and his lovely wife experienced this last week with regards to the wellness of his unborn child. He spoke about praying in every breath and and in every moment.
It is a part of life to have an experience of set-backs. But deep despair...
...facing an unreal and difficult climb up what appears to be the cliffs of insanity...
...well now, this is a drop to your knees, take the wind-breath out of your sails, different story.
We tend to only udder the name of the Divine when feeling pure bliss and a sweating of DMT from the pineal gland or when faced with immense challenges, or in the throws of extasy.
This is when the mind melts away...
...and we are left with what we truly are: pure energy!
Many factors can hold us into what we perceive as prison walls. It is not the initial reaction which cause the challenge but the re-reaction! When we learn to pray to the Divine in each breath, then we are able to freeze the frames and really see the energy grids.
Indeed there are many methods that are ancient, such as connecting with master plants and shaman who conduct ritual ceremonies and guide you through the unseen world.
This amazing creation utilizes the theory of behavioral science to relax the brain and the way it stores memories, which in-turn creates a happier healthier you!
But how do we handle this each and everyday, and each and every moment?
This is indeed a conundrum!
The secret is the breath, and how we view each breath.
This is the beginning, the starting point. But just as my friend stated
with regards to his experience, he began to pray, not following every
thought, but in every moment, for every action and on every breath.
The power of our sound, words and voice are unique and different than energy that originates and generates from any other chakra.
Our sound begins in the heart-space, blends with the breath in the lung area and is projected out of the mouth. It then circulates back in through the ears. This creates a circulation of happiness.
My friend found out that his soon to be born child is fine and is expected in a few weeks time. I hope that he continues to feel the power of his voice and prayers for they circulate and recirculate goodness for all!
Life is a daily practice, breathing is a daily practice. Keep on the path...
Keep practicing the breath while focusing on compassion and love.
Let the trapping of the world drift by as you meditate. Just notice in calm awareness.

A new student came to me eagerly sharing her साधन sAdhana which is the daily practice of Yogin, a practitioner of Yoga. This was inspired by a discussion of मन्त्रmantra we were having. She asked if I would like her to demonstrate. Of course I replied yes eager to be positive support.
She got into an austere posture with one knee up and the corresponding hand cupping her ear and explained she chants the sound मा mA, which in संस्कृतं saMskruthaM means "no" "didn't" or "not."
Aside from trying to Anglicize the word for mother which is मातृ mAtr the demonstration left out a key element in the magical equation of calling a Goddess, God or any other Divine power.
You see, we must always chant to Ganesha first!
This is how we unlock the entrance to the magical land of the deities
and open the gate so that we are heard and invited in!
Otherwise it is impossible to feel the true power of the dynamic sound vibrations which unlock their magic!
Yoga was not originally meant as a physical exercise program or practice of flesh knotting.
It is a tree of knowledge and wisdom for the mind.
The tree of Yoga is an entire body of information that teaches the path to a meditative state. It is like a Banyan tree that grows from the sky downward.
The original postures were the 108 Karanas of Shiva. They are sacred dance.
Yoga is the realization of the embodiment of God.
The practice of Asana represents a single leaf on a mighty tree.
I grew up near Princeton New Jersey where the famed Albert Einstein resided, researched and taught. As a child my favorite playmate was destined to study at the town's renowned university.
He came from a long line of graduates. In those early years I became fascinated with the institution listening to his father tell stories about it. Everyday my friend told me he would go to college there.
This led me to think about the great scientist Albert Einstein. I pondered his theories and wished I could have been his student.
I imagined what it would be like to sit in his study, listen to him play violin and discuss the early ideas of Quantum Physics.
Years later, my family moved north of the suburbs of Philadelphia, even closer to that area of New Jersey.
When I was old enough to drive, I set out on a journey to Princeton. I wanted to stand under Einstein's window, sit on a bench outside his study and walk the paths where his feet had strolled.
I imagined I could speak with him and absorb his wisdom. I put my ear and hands upon the stone wall of his building and listened to the ancient echo of his laughter and felt the vibrations of his wisdom. I debated with him about God and the Universe, thinking I could convince him that the colorful spirit world is right here, right now...
...and that if we just look at this from a different angle or in a another direction as taught by the lesson of the Hanged Man Tarot card...
...rather than causing pain or grief, we can reach enlightenment.
So, I invite you joyful Jedi, to wipe away the smoggy clouds of your mind...
...and practice meditation.
This truly is the key to unlock the passageway to
your dharma path.
This is where you can experience the entire Universe for it is already you. Thinking otherwise is insane!
Albert once said this regarding the definition of insanity:
It is important to look at the methods we use to navigate life. Are we grinding down the same path over and over expecting to find ourselves at a completely different destination?
The way to easily find ourselves in the right place at the right time is by letting go of control.
Perhaps this takes us in a completely different direction! Just as the Tarot card and the wise ones taught.
I have an opportunity for you to learn specific methods and invite you to simply stop and have a few minutes of time out. Give the mind a rest.
For those of you in the Tampa Bay area of Florida, join me next weekend on February 7, 2016 for a tangible experience of doing just this.
All skill levels of Yogis are welcome to this inspirational class. $30 in advance and $35 same day.

I'll leave you with one more pearl of wisdom from the great Albert Einstein,
“A
person experiences life as something separated from the rest – a kind
of optical delusion of consciousness. Our task must be to free ourselves
from this self-imposed prison, and through compassion, to find the
reality of Oneness.”
The bottom line is we are LOVE. When we realize this, we are happy for the happiness of others. This brings us to a place of peace.
